Bookmaker’s Opinion About the Forthcoming 2020 Oscars

It is that time of the year again as we are getting ready for the 91st Academy Awards. This year the date is shifted for February 9, 2020, and the event is going to take place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

Some of the presents that have already been announced are last year’s winners like Olivia Colman and Rami Malek, who both won Best Actor and Best Actress awards last year. Additionally, the winners of the best supporting actor and actress, Regina King and Mahershala Ali are also set to make appearances as presents.

The highlights for the 2020 Oscars certainly include Tod Phillip’s The Joker, with no less than 11 nominations, and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

So let’s check the odds and you can also check bingo-promo-code.co.uk for a special promo code.

Best Picture

As critiques see it, the likeliest movies to win the Best Picture award at the 2020 Oscars are Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Scorsese’s The Irishman.

Both directors made triumphant returns with their movies and Scorsese’s masterpiece is a return to the old-school gangster genre that we are used to seeing from him. Tarantino essentially does the same with his flick as he tries to show the bleak side of Hollywood the later 60s, but at the same time jabs at some recent events happening currently.

The biggest underdogs are probably The Joker, a comic-book movie with a Scorcese-like twist, and Mendes’ war epic 1917. Medes has solace as 1917 already drew first blood by winning the Golden Globe award.

Other nominees include Jojo Rabbit, Little Women, Parasite, Marriage Story, and Ford v Ferrari.

Best Lead Actor

We might as well give the award to Joaquin Phoenix now! Critics and fans alike are both saying that this is the performance of his career. Joaquin is brilliant as Arthur Fleck in The Joker, and you can really feel his descent into madness as the movie goes by. This is not a comic-book movie, this is a masterpiece and Phoenix has put a legitimate stamp on it.

Adam Driver is our runner up for the award. He gave a great performance in Marriage Story as he plays the husband in a marriage going down the gutter where both parents just want the best for their child.

Other nominees include Antonio Banders in Pain and Glory, Leonardo Di Caprio in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes.

Best Lead Actress

Renee Zellweger trumps the critics with her performance as Judy Garland in a hear-tense biopic titled Judy. Based on the current poles and talks around Hollywood, Renee is the surest bet to take home the Best Actress award at the 2020 Oscars.

However, things might not be as easy for Zellweger as people thing. Surprises do happen and other nominees like Scarlet Johansson (Marriage Story), Saoirse Ronan (Little Women), Charlize Theron (Bombshell), and Cynthia Erivo (Harriet) are right there in the mix.

Best Director

The master returning to his genre of defining works is how people see Marin Scorsese’s nomination for the Best Director award. By many, he is a shoo-in to get another Oscar award.

However, Tarantino is definitely tossing his hat into the ring. He has never won an award for Best Director and this might be an opportunity for him to finally get one.

The duo will have stiff competition in Sam Mendes (1917), Bong Joon-Ho (Parasite), and Todd Phillips (The Joker).

As always, you never know which way Hollywood is going to go. So we are bound to see certain surprises for the 2020 Oscars.
