This message is addressed to the people who commented on Mr Hanks's words on The Colbert Report and from the Time article in the last update (although I'm almost certain they won't come back…), as well as to those who may intend to do the same.
This website is dedicated to an actor's work. You don't need to agree with someone's political point of view to like what he does as an actor. You're going to say 'This is more than just political opinion', and you're right. However I do not support nor condemn his comment and here's why. I'm French and all we learnt about the Pacific theater during World War II in High School was that the Japanese had attacked Pearl Harbor which marked the beginning of the United States's involvement in this War. Then we learnt that a few years later the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima (they barely mentioned the second bomb). Period. We were also told that the Japanese were called (literally translated) the ''yellow or slant-eyed men" and that in a sense we feared them because they were kamikazes and could do horrifying things. That's it. I've never been taught anything else about the war in the Pacific. Therefore I'm sorry to say that I'm not educated enough on this period of History to judge his words.
Now I'm pretty sure (and I can see it for some of the comments) that you just looked for the first website about Mr Hanks in order to post your comment. You're entirely free to express your opinion. But this is not the place to do so, especially if you expect him to read what you have to say. Go to his Twitter, his Myspace or send him a registered mail if you wish but there are very slim chances that he ever comes across your messages if you write them here.

Tom Hanks presented the Best Picture award at the Academy Awards last night. We've added three videos, including the an interview at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party where he explains that he didn't rush during the ceremony, that was the way it was scripted.
